The mangrove forests of southern Iran, especially those of Hormozgan, have agreat diversity in terms of crab species which are completely unique in thecountry. The smallest crab is the size of a knuckle and the largest is larger thana dinner plate. Given that the country's wetlands are drying up due to drought, it is necessary to protect marine wetlands more than ever in order to preserve the habitat of these extraordinary creatures.
